Pitlochry~ Perth & Kinross

Hello everyone! I hope you are all enjoying reading my posts as much as I am writing them and feel inspired to travel to some of these hidden beautiful places across Scotland. The area of Scotland that will be covered in today’s post is the tranquil village of Pitlochry. Again, this is a place we visited as a family during the summer holidays.

Local town for food & drinks

We parked our motorhome in the Milton of Fonab caravan park which was excellently situated as we found that access to the main village was only a brisk walk away. If you are looking to stay in one of the hotels in the centre of Pitlochry, then you will be even closer to shops and restaurants. After walking into the village on a hot summer's day, a refreshment and pub lunch was well deserved, and we found that the Port-Na-Craig Inn and restaurant did just that. We thoroughly enjoyed the food here and enjoyed sitting outside watching the river run next to us and the occasional fish leaping out of the water.

Things to do in Putlochry

There are many activities to do in Pitlochry which we were pleasantly surprised about considering the village itself is relatively small. As a family we are quite the competitive bunch and found the perfect way to unleash this competitive side at the Pitlochry putting green. This little putting green was a perfect pass time activity, and we particularly valued the classic putting green nature throughout. A short walk from the putting green, you will find the Pitlochry dam visitor centre and salmon ladder. The visitor centre is dog friendly, which is ideal for tourists, and has a lovely café for enjoying a tea or coffee whist admiring the view. We thoroughly enjoyed learning loads of information about the dam and salmon ladder and would highly recommend if you are staying in the area or just passing through. We also enjoyed walking aimlessly through the woodland which provided for some stunning landscapes and picture opportunities, as well as tiring our wee dog out!

I hope this provides some inspiration and insight to Pitlochry and hope you will enjoy it as much as we did!
